Eat, Drink and Be Merry
Before I arrived at the 2007 South Beach Wine and Food Festival, I had envisioned drinking wine with celebrities, trying elegant dishes and watching the sun rise on the beach. My expectations were more than fulfilled when I found myself chatting it up with Al Roker, sipping Dom Perignon and tasting tuna tartar (which I had never tried before) right on balmy South Beach, instead of shivering while eating a hot dog walking down an icy New York City sidewalk. I was already familiar with South Beach, but this gala, four-day culinary affair -- now in its sixth year -- was Miami like I'd never seen it before. .
Vendors Showcase New Products At 2007 Wine And Food Festival
Miami, FL (AHN) - A list of culinary stars, chefs, wine producers and vendors participated in the 2007 Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival over the weekend. The annual event showcased a selection of local and international foods during its four-day festivities and included vendors from all over the country, including AirForce Nutrisoda and Oronoco Brazilian Rum. On Saturday, the third day of the festival, AHN spoke to Richard Moody, a representative for AirForce Nutrisoda, a nutri-enhanced drink. The "good soda," as it is known, is full of nutrients and herbs and available in seven flavors, explained Moody. It is currently causing a sensation at lavish Hollywood parties, including the Golden Globes, because it promotes health benefits and contains no aspartame.
Tommy Bahama Rum to Debut at South Beach Wine & Food Festival
21/02/07 Tommy Bahama Rum, the new ultra-premium rum from Barbados, will make its much-anticipated debut at The 2007 Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival, February 22-25. Tommy Bahama Rum comes in two delightfully distinct flavors: Tommy Bahama White Sand and Tommy Bahama Golden Sun. Each begins with the best blackstrap molasses and the cleanest, clearest water naturally filtered through coral stone. A clear, light-bodied rum, White Sand has a smooth entry and clean finish with hints of tangy, tropical fruit.
STAWAR: Life is sweeter than chocolate
For me this last Valentine's Day was a milestone, It was the first that has passed since I was diagnosed with diabetes. Although I'm not a chocoholic, I do have an occasional weakness, for homemade fudge and hot chocolate chip cookies. But like who doesn't? And like most baby boomers I have been totally brainwashed by the Mars company into believing that Snickers must be part of any truly balanced diet. For most of high school, my lunch consisted of a Butterfinger and bottle of root beer.
