| More cranberries for kitty
The versatile cranberry can sauce up a turkey dinner, tart up a bowl of bland oatmeal, and it can also be a key ingredient in some natural cat food recipes. Wellness, a natural pet food brand marketed by Chelmsford pet food company Old Mother Hubbard, said today its Wellness Dietary Solutions Feline Dry Nutrition Line includes Wellness Complete Health, a new formula for cats that features the "Wellness Triple Cranberry System" to ensure that tabby is glowing with good health, thanks to fruit from the bogs. Urinary tract problems are common with cats, and Wellness Complete Health provides three sources of cranberries - fresh cranberries, cranberry fiber, and cranberry extract - to prevent such problems, the company said; the product also includes Omega 6 and three fatty acids from salmon, olive oil, and flaxseed.

Health Ministry Puts Fast Food Under Close Scrutiny
BATU PAHAT, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- The Health Ministry will meet non-governmental organisation (NGO) representatives to work on a campaign to educate the public on the pros and cons of fast food. Its Minister Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek said the meeting will be held immediately after the Chinese New Year holiday as the ministry was concerned with the current lifestyle of Malaysians and their fast food eating habits. He said the ministry welcomed the call made by the NGOs, particularly the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Association and the Penang Consumers Association, to stop fast food advertisements in the local media. "A meeting will be held to find the best method to educate the public to avoid fast food consumption at the early age," he told reporters after a Chinese New Year Celebration, organised by Batu Pahat MCA, here last night.
Eat, Drink and Be Merry
Before I arrived at the 2007 South Beach Wine and Food Festival, I had envisioned drinking wine with celebrities, trying elegant dishes and watching the sun rise on the beach. My expectations were more than fulfilled when I found myself chatting it up with Al Roker, sipping Dom Perignon and tasting tuna tartar (which I had never tried before) right on balmy South Beach, instead of shivering while eating a hot dog walking down an icy New York City sidewalk. I was already familiar with South Beach, but this gala, four-day culinary affair -- now in its sixth year -- was Miami like I'd never seen it before. .
'We Can Get There'
"We can get there – we can produce a 15 billion bushel crop," said Ken McCauley, National Corn Growers Association president and a White Cloud, Kan., farmer, at a Commodity Classic press conference Thursday. Biotechnology, improved genetics, more acres and improved ethanol efficiencies will combine to generate enough corn in a few years to meet both demand for food and fuel, he said. Livestock producers will soon see more DDGs coming on the market. Research will help them use more DDGs in cattle, hogs and poultry rations, McCauley said. A new test method will help livestock producers use more DDGs, too. It will standardize methods used to determine DDGs moisture and crude protein, fat and fiber content levels. Ken McCauley, president, National Corn Growers Association, outlines how the industry group thinks farmers will produce enough fuel to meet both demand for booth food and fuel in the future.
