Translate Spanish film fantasy into food on the 'Table'
The following review is by a reader who was given a cookbook from the Times. The included recipes were selected and prepared by the reader. On one winter Sunday, I thought I'd take a trip to Spain. I couldn't wait to listen to the Spanish language, flamenco music and, not to forget, taste the amazing cuisine. So, I packed my bag, wrapped myself in a warm coat and headed over to the local moviehouse to watch the new Spanish flick "Volver." OK, so not quite Spain, but close enough. Whenever a new Pedro Almodovar movie comes out, it's always exciting to see what the famous Spanish director has up his sleeve. The script, the dialogue, the actors, the melodrama, the unexpected twists -- everything that is uniquely Almodovar. And, let's not forget, the most important ingredient of his films, the authentic Spanish cuisine.

But the 100 percent whole wheat doughnut isn't likely to show up on the South Beach Diet list of recommended foods or on a marathon runner's menu. .
'Food Loaf' Helps Stop Food Fights In Jails
BROOKVILLE, Pa. -- Jefferson County's jail warden got a little tired of inmates throwing food despite repeated warnings not to, so he fought back. Warden David Riley recently started feeding misbehaving inmates a food loaf, made up of all the offerings at mealtime mixed together and formed into a loaf. "We microwave the food loaf before it is served," Riley said. "It's really not that bad." Jails across the country commonly serve food loafs as punishment for bad behavior. Some jails don't use the daily meal offerings, but instead use a recipe that includes ingredients like wheat bread, beans, other vegetables and cheeses in order to make sure the inmate's diet meets daily nutritional guidelines. Five days after offering the unique concoction, Riley said all food throwing stopped at his jail.
